Fundraising: Have FUN with FUNdraising

ANNUAL SUPPORT-A-WALK ~ SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2023

Tips for Online Fundraisers

As a Support-A-Walk fundraiser, you can have a powerful impact on Support Connection’s mission. The best part about this opportunity is that you can and should have fun with it! After all, the first three letters of FUNdraising are FUN!
We encourage you to be creative, share your story and your passion for the mission, and enjoy the journey!

Fun and easy fundraising ideas:

  1. Host a “Cocktails for a Cause” party and welcome friends, family, colleagues into your home. Share the mission with them and let your passion shine through! Ask them for a donation to Support Connection, perhaps suggesting they consider whatever they might spend on a night out … and have fun together!
  2. A similar, family friendly spin on that is to host an ice cream social / barbecue for kids & families in your backyard, once again sharing your own passion for the mission and asking for donations to Support Connection.
  3. Wine tasting party – ask a local wine store to donate wine/expertise in exchange for sponsorship acknowledgment*. Invite friends, family, colleagues, etc. and charge an attendance fee.
  4. Ask a local gym to host a fitness class fundraiser (Zumba, Spin, etc.). Invite participants to attend for whatever the gym class cost is, and ask the gym to donate all or most of the proceeds to Support Connection.
  5. Ask your employer if you can host a lunch and learn at work. Invite colleagues and share Support Connection’s mission. Ask for them to support your fundraising goals, noting that many or most probably have loved ones impacted by breast, ovarian, or gynecological cancer.
  6. A 50/50 Raffle can be included at any other event to raise added funds. This is a fun way to encourage involvement! Simply ask for donations, share a raffle ticket of sorts, pick the winning ticket at the end of the event and share the money collected 50% for the winner, 50% for Support Connection – easy and fun!
  7. Host a Tag Sale and donate the proceeds… declutter and raise money at the same time with this win/win option!
  8. Donate the proceeds of a Bake sale / Lemonade stand – great way to get the kids involved and share family fun!
  9. Movie night – rent an outdoor screen, charge for attendance, provide popcorn & drinks.
  10. Host a Dog or Car Wash on a nice weekend day – charge for the service, donate the proceeds.
  11. Organize a plant or holiday wreath sale – partner with a local nursery for discounted purchases to sell for profit – give sponsorship credit*.
  12. Ask a local restaurant, ice cream shop, etc. if they’ll host a night for you during which they donate a percentage of sales in exchange for acknowledgment*.
  13. If you’re into photography, offer family photo shoots for a fee and donate the proceeds.
  14. Organize a Venmo or a Facebook fundraiser in celebration of a birthday, anniversary, etc. and donate the proceeds to Support Connection.

*For all social media or sponsorship acknowledgement credit, please speak to Support Connection staff to facilitate and coordinate this prior to outreach. Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

I started a fundraising page but now I can’t find it.

Login in to your Network For Good account here. Once you’re logged in, click “My Account” at the top of the page. Your fundraising page will be displayed in your account.

Or, you can go to our 2023 Walk fundraising home page then scroll down to the bottom to view all the people raising funds for our Walk. Names will be listed alphabetically.

I don’t know what a “URL” is.

The URL is the address at the top of your fundraising page. (It starts with https://supportconnection.networkforgood.com/projects…) Include this URL in your emails. When the recipient clicks on it, your page will open up for them.

What can I do to increase my contribution?

Take advantage of Matching Gifts. Many companies will match contributions made by their employees. This can double or even triple your donation! Ask your employer if they have a Matching Gift program. Support Connection is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit.
