Support Groups

A support group is the perfect place to meet others who understand what you’re going through. Share information, experiences, and support in a warm, welcoming environment.

We have groups for those who’ve been diagnosed with breast, ovarian or gynecological cancer, and groups for men whose spouse or partner was diagnosed.

Our support groups are unique. They are all “peer-to-peer” groups. This means everyone in the room has heard the words “you have cancer.” For the men’s groups, it means everyone in the room has faced this with their spouse or partner.

All groups are led by peer facilitators. Some are led by the Peer Counselors on our staff. Others are led by volunteer peer facilitators (breast or ovarian cancer survivors) who are trained and supervised by our Peer Counselors.

We also offer ongoing Open Discussions aimed at bringing together people who have unique or specific issues they would like to to discuss. In addition we offer discussions for men whose lives have been impacted by a spouse or partner going through breast, ovarian or gynecological cancer. Open Discussions are always led by peer facilitators who’ve had similar experiences.

Breast, Ovarian, or Gynecological Cancer Support Groups

Open to women with breast, ovarian or gynecological cancer. We all know there are many common factors to any cancer diagnosis. Join us as we discuss all stages of diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment. Pre-registration is required. Call 914-962-6402 or 800-532-4290.

Breast Cancer Support Group

Open to women with breast cancer. Join a group of women who have also heard the words “you have breast cancer” as we discuss issues pertaining to all stages of diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment. Pre-registration is required. Call 914-962-6402 or 800-532-4290.

Breast, Ovarian and Gynecological Cancer Post Treatment Support Group

Open to women who have been diagnosed with breast, ovarian, or gynecological cancer and are within three years post-treatment. Pre-registration is required. Call 914-962-6402or 800-532-4290

WHEN: 1st Wednesday of each month, 7-8 pm (NY time) beginning, Wednesday February 5th, 2025
WHERE: ZOOM videoconference

Some common areas of discussion:

  • Exploring the emotional and psychological aspects of moving forward after treatment.
  • Addressing physical and emotional changes that may impact intimacy, including hormone changes, and body image.
  • A safe space to discuss body image challenges, including changes in appearance, scars, weight changes, and the emotional journey of adjusting to a new sense of self.
  • Impact on Relationships: Strengthening Bonds or Navigating Changes.
  • Addressing the isolation and frustration of feeling misunderstood by others who have not experienced cancer.
  • The Importance of Self-Care to enhance emotional and physical well-being.

National Toll-Free Telephone Support Group: Ovarian or Gynecological Cancer

Open to women with ovarian or gynecological cancer. Join us as we discuss issues pertaining to all stages of diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment. Participate from the comfort of your own home. This national toll-free teleconference group is open to women across the country. Pre-registration is required. Call 914-962-6402 or 800-532-4290.

National Toll-Free Telephone Support Group: Advanced Stage or Metastatic Breast Cancer
