Community Partner Spotlight: Standard Recycling Corporation

Standard Recycling Corporation (SRC) is a Westchester-based company that owns and maintains a network of clothing recycling bins at various locations in NY and CT. Individuals place unwanted clothing in the bins and SRC recycles them via textile recycling, a method of reusing or reprocessing used clothing, fibrous material and clothing scraps. The recycled material is then sold for reuse, thereby reducing unneeded waste.

Having a desire to make a difference in their community, the owners of SRC devised a charitable giving program that supports local nonprofit organizations. Nonprofits are invited to place their name, logo and mission on SRC’s clothing bins. For every bin with their logo, SRC gives a generous annual contribution to the nonprofit.

Support Connection has been a fortunate recipient of this program since 2013. From 2013 through 2020, Standard Recycling Corporation has contributed a total of $167,000 towards Support Connection’s free breast and ovarian cancer support services. In addition to this tremendously helpful financial support, the program also raises awareness of Support Connection’s mission. Because our name, mission and contact info is listed on the bins, residents of those communities who are dealing with the challenges of breast and ovarian cancer learn they don’t have to face it alone.

Support Connection is extremely grateful to Standard Recycling Corporation for this ongoing partnership which helps us enhance the lives of the many people dealing with breast and ovarian cancer who depend on us for help and support.
