Getting Creative With Your Fundraising Approach
Put the fun in fundraising. You can get creative with how you choose to raise money for the Support-A-Walk. Here are a few suggestions:
Host a Gathering – If you are someone who likes to entertain, host a fundraising event! You can throw a cocktail party, a sports tournament, a pancake breakfast – whatever sounds like fun to you. Ask those who participate in your event to make a donation to your Support-A-Walk fundraiser.
Challenge Yourself & Others – Participating in social media “challenges” has been found to be a creative way to raise awareness and funds (think ALS Ice Bucket Challenge of 2014). Challenge youself to do something you wouldn’t normally do – whether it be something good for your health or something that’s just silly and fun! Walk 30 minutes a day, take a 30 second cold plunge, do a 30 day healthy eating program, etc. Post your updates on social media with the explanation as to why you are doing this challenge (to raise awareness and funds for Support Connection) and be sure to post the link to your fundraising page in your caption. Invite others to participate as well!
Make it a Gift – If you have an important life event coming up (birthday, anniversary, retirement, etc.) consider asking the people in your life to make a donation to your fundraising page in lieu of a gift.

Maximizing Your Impact
Worried about reaching your fundraising goal? Your fundraising page will remain active until Dec. 31. People will still be able to donate to your page after the Support-A-Walk on Oct. 6.
Here are some other tips to maximize your impact and reach your fundraising goal:
Keep Your Donors Updated – Send a message to your donors or post on social media updating everyone on the progress your fundraising page is making. This makes donors feel like their involvement in the good that you are doing didn’t end after they submitted their donation. Your donors will become more invested if they are being given updates on your progress. They may even consider donating again to further help you reach your goal!
Ex: “Hello everyone! Thank you so much for the support you have given me in reaching my goal of raising $3,000 for Support Connection’s 30th Annual Support-A-Walk. I am now only x amount of dollars away from reaching my goal!”
Offer a Suggested Donation Amount – You would be surpised how quickly $20 donations can add up. Ask for $20 from 10 of your friends and now you’ve raised $200! Or you can ask for $30 donations in honor of Support Connection’s 30th Annual Support-A-Walk. Suggesting a donation amount to your donors can help them decide how much they are willing to donate and may encourage them to donate more than they had originally intended.
