Support Connection is pleased to announced that their Board of Directors has appointed a new member, Steve Kollias of Peekskill, NY.
Steve joined Support Connection’ Board of Directors in February after being a dedicated volunteer for the organization for many years. His commitment to the cause has personal meaning: his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999, and Support Connection is where she turned for help. Over the years since then, both Steve and his mom have been staunch supporters: volunteering, attending events, and spreading the word about the organization’s mission.
Steve was in middle school when he began helping out at Support Connection’s Annual Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer. He recalls the people he met there with fondness and admiration, and attributes his interest in becoming more involved to that experience: “To me, Support Connection means community members coming together to make sure that women and families are able to receive the unique and valuable services Support Connection offers.”
Steve is a pharmacy technician who has been employed at NY-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor, NY for 10 years. He is also pursuing full-time studies towards a Bachelor’s degree at SUNY Purchase.
Gary Wawrzycki, Board President, is pleased to welcome Steve to Support Connection’s Board: “Our central goal as Board of Directors is to ensure the future well-being, growth, and scope of the available programs offered to so many by our amazing staff and counselors, so our mission continues and grows. Steve is a welcome addition to our Board. He is extremely committed to our mission and he brings tremendous passion and energy. We’re excited to have him on our team.”
Steve looks forward to fulfilling his new role: “As a Board member, I plan to do whatever I can to let everyone in the community know about Support Connection’s services and how necessary they are. They have helped countless women and family members, and we must make sure to support them so they can continue this important work.”
The Support Connection Board of Directors is a diverse group of dedicated volunteers who devote their time and talents to helping the organization fulfill its mission.
