Individual Support

“I was so fearful when I heard the word cancer. When I made that call to Support Connection, I found out I was not alone. The Peer Counselors helped me through my journey and to go on with my life.” Bella T., a breast cancer survivor

When cancer invades your life, it’s hard to know how to proceed. Questions, worries, fears, uncertainties. It can be a long journey with many twists and turns along the way. It begins with diagnosis but doesn’t end when treatment is over.

When you’re coping with breast, ovarian or gynecological cancer, or if a loved one is affected, receiving knowledgeable, personalized support can make all the difference.

How We Can Help

We offer individual support and information through our One-on-One Peer Counseling Program. This confidential service is free, unlimited, and available nationwide via our toll-free support line or email.

Peer Counselors are members of our staff, and are cancer survivors themselves. They’re in our office Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm. Anytime you call, email or come to our office for help or answers, you’ll be connected right away with a Peer Counselor. If you call or email after hours, a Peer Counselor will get back to you the next business day.

What Peer Counselors Do

Our Peer Counselors listen to your individual needs and concerns. They provide personalized support through any challenge a cancer diagnosis brings. They understand what you’re going through and how you feel. They listen without judgment. They’re a sounding board as you sift through information and options. They’re a shoulder to lean on when you need it. They can direct you to useful resources. They’ll never tell you what you “should” do, but they’ll be with you every step of the way to find the answers that are right for you.

Why Our Peer Counselors Are Unique

Our Peer Counselors can talk with you about living with cancer from the perspective of someone who’s been there. In addition, they’ve each spoken with hundreds of other women of all ages and different circumstances. This powerful combination of personal and professional experience enables them to bring unique wisdom to every conversation.

I felt alone and overwhelmed. That first phone call to Support Connection was hard to make, but it was the best decision of my life. The Peer Counselors are understanding, knowledgeable and empathetic. They listen without judgment, and understand why you feel the way you do, because they’ve had cancer too. They are my lifeline.” Amy C., a breast cancer survivor
