Fundraising: The Art of Gentle Reminders

ANNUAL SUPPORT-A-WALK ~ SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2023

Tips for Online Fundraisers

How long ago did you send out your emails asking for donations? Whenever it was, it’s always a good idea to send out some gentle reminders.

Why reminders?

The people you reached out to may have put your request in their “to do” pile then forgotten about it. We’re all busy, it happens!

So go ahead and send a gentle reminder about the Walk and your fundraising efforts.

I’m afraid of bothering people. What can I say?

Our most successful fundraisers give family and friends plenty of reminders and chances to donate. Here’s a sample of what you might say:

Dear Friends,

I want to give you a brief update on my efforts to raise funds for the Support-A-Walk.

So far, I’ve raised $__ but I still have a ways to go to reach my goal of $___. I’m hoping you’ll help by making a donation. A donation of any amount is welcomed!

With our help, Support Connection can continue to change lives by providing FREE support services to those living with breast, ovarian, or any gynecological cancer. They can’t do it without us.

To donate, click on this link for my fundraising page: (insert the URL to your fundraising page here) It really is quick and secure. Thank you in advance for your help!

Feel free to personalize this message. The point is: Remind people you need their help!

I haven’t sent any emails yet. Is it too late?

It’s never too late to get started! Need help asking for donations? Check out our sample email.

I’m getting close to my fundraising goal. What should I do?

That’s fantastic, thank you! In your reminder, tell people you’re almost at your goal. Ask them to help you reach or even surpass it.

Can people donate by cash or check?

Yes! You can add these funds to your fundraising page as “offline donations.”

Keep track of cash and checks with our Collection Form then bring or send to our office.

Or, tell people to send to us directly using this Donation Form. Make sure your name/Team name is listed as the fundraiser.

Frequently Asked Questions

I started a fundraising page but now I can’t find it.

Login in to your Network For Good account here. Once you’re logged in, click “My Account” at the top of the page. Your fundraising page will be displayed in your account.

Or, you can go to our 2023 Walk fundraising home page then scroll down to the bottom to view all the people raising funds for our Walk. Names will be listed alphabetically.

I don’t know what a “URL” is.

The URL is the address at the top of your fundraising page. (It starts with https://supportconnection.networkforgood.com/projects…) Include this URL in your emails. When the recipient clicks on it, your page will open up for them.

What can I do to increase my contribution?

Take advantage of Matching Gifts. Many companies will match contributions made by their employees. This can double or even triple your donation! Ask your employer if they have a Matching Gift program. Support Connection is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit.
