Introducing Our 2025 Support-A-Walk Ambassadors

Support Connection is proud to introduce the Walk Ambassadors for our 2025 Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer: Marcie Kaplan, Board Member and volunteer and Marge O’Brien, Board Member and Volunteer.
Walk Ambassadors are supporters who share their personal stories to illustrate the spirit and purpose of this uplifting annual event.
Marci Kaplan

“Supporting a cancer organization isn’t just something I do — it’s
something I live for, every day, in honor of someone I lost to this
disease. Their absence is a constant reminder of how deeply cancer
touches lives, and how important it is to be there for others walking
that same path.

As a board member, volunteer and this year a Walk Ambassador, I’m
proud to stand behind an organization that provides support, hope, and critical resources to individuals and families facing cancer. I give my time, my voice, and my energy not
only to raise money for early diagnosis and research, but to make sure no one feels alone in this fight.

To me, this work is a way to give back — to turn pain into purpose.
It’s about helping people find strength in the hardest moments, and
making sure that someday, fewer families have to go through the kind
of loss mine did.

This isn’t just about funding or awareness. It’s about compassion.
It’s about connection. It’s about showing up — for those we’ve lost,
for those still fighting, and for the future we hope to change.

The walk and what we do is even more meaningful this past year as I
lost my sister to a rare form of cervical cancer.  Her fight, courage
and uplifting spirit is why I support and continue to fight in helping
others and their families going through rough times.”

“Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful.”

Marge O’Brien

“After retiring in 2012 as Managing Director of the Regulatory Supervision Team at Deutsche Bank Securities, I was ready for a new chapter—one where I could devote my time to something meaningful. Following a 35-year career on Wall Street, I became a Certified Health Coach, helping clients adopt healthier lifestyles.

In 2014, while attending a health fair, I met Kathy Quinn, who was representing Support Connection. At the time, my sister Maureen had just been diagnosed with breast cancer—ten years after we lost our sister Mary to the same disease. Kathy shared Support Connection’s mission with me, and I immediately knew I wanted to be involved.

I joined the Golf Outing Committee that year and have proudly remained an active member ever since. Over the years, I’ve volunteered at various fundraising events, helped raise awareness of Support Connection’s invaluable services, and provided assistance in the office with mailings, phone calls, and more. Three years ago, I was honored to join the Board of Directors and now serve as Secretary.

Today, I’m deeply proud to be an Ambassador for the Annual Support-A-Walk. With my family’s history, I know firsthand the emotional and physical toll of a cancer diagnosis—not only on those battling the illness but also on their loved ones. I’ve witnessed the incredible difference Support Connection makes in people’s lives, and being part of this organization continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of my own life.

As an Ambassador, I am committed to spreading the word about Support Connection to as many people as possible, with the hope of increasing awareness, expanding our reach, and raising critical funds for the services we provide.”
