2017 Spring Benefit
More than 300 people attended our Spring Benefit on April 7, 2017 at the beautiful Villa Barone Hilltop Manor in Mahopac, NY. Guests enjoyed a festive evening of dinner and dancing. Our Silent Auction and Pick-Your-Prize gifts made for a dazzling display. We are so grateful to all who made our Spring Benefit a success, including our guests, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and the terrific staff at Villa Barone Hilltop Manor.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of our Annual Spirit Awards to the following honorees:
Chereese Jervis-Hill: Maria Rubino Jennings Spirit of Caring Award: This award is presented in honor and memory of Maria who helped create Support Connection’s Peer Counseling program and other services. It is given to someone who follows the example established by Maria: Making a positive difference in many lives through the power of caring. Over many years, because of her tremendous commitment to our cause, Chereese has made a difference by giving wholeheartedly of herself, both professionally and personally.
Ginny Allison-Novotny and Dottie McHugh: Spirit of Hope Awards: This award is given to honor individuals who offer inspiration to other cancer survivors. They have taken their own experiences and translated them into an opportunity to raise awareness about Support Connection’s mission. By sharing their personal stories, they empower others to reach out to us for help and encourage people to support our free services.
Gary Wawrzycki: Spirit of Community Award: This award is presented to honor someone whose efforts and actions make a huge difference to Support Connection and the community. Over the past few years, Gary has helped us reach out to many people in need of our support. In addition, because of Gary’s efforts, his employer Wells Fargo has sponsored numerous events and has also donated nearly $20,000 in community grants.
Jane Crossley and Valerie Peyronnet: Spirit of Giving Award: Spirit of Giving honorees are an inspiration to others and clearly demonstrate what it means to give of oneself. By sharing our mission, and because of their dedication and enthusiasm as volunteers, Jane and Valerie are truly a gift to us.
